About 10th Wave

10th Wave is a 501c(3) musician-led ensemble that collaborates with living, local and/or underrepresented artists to perform high quality programming and connect with the Minneapolis-St. Paul community.

10th Wave believes music has the ability to create a shared experience; therefore, they are always searching for new opportunities to present programmatic concerts and perform in casual public spaces where high quality art music is welcome. Through their concerts, they strive to build a community within our audiences that breaks down the barriers of social class, race, and ethnicity to be accessible for all who come to listen.

Formed in December 2017, 10th Wave is a collective instrumental music ensemble of conservatory-trained professional musicians including but not limited to: flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, piano, percussion, and voice. Pieces performed by 10th Wave are all composed within the last century in the classical music genre and can be categorized as modern, postmodern, electronic, indie-classical, and contemporary. 10th Wave also performs commissions and pieces written by living & local composers in Minnesota.

Quilt National ’23 Exhibit on-view Hjemkomst Center – Moorhead, MN

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is pleased to announce the opening of Quilt National ’23, a juried exhibit of 30 one-of-a-kind quilted masterpieces.

The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, OH, has organized this biennial competition for 45 years. Commenting on the innovation and diversity of Quilt National, Leah Magyary, Executive Director of The Dairy Barn Arts Center, says, “Throughout its history, Quilt National has showcased quilts that play with light, space, color, and technology, allowing new masterpieces to emerge and blossom. And we are not done yet- there is so much more for the quilting world to discover, and the more artists we invite to the table, the better we can progress towards untapped creativity.”

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation; Minnesota Quilters; The Arts Partnership with the Cities of Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo; the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation, and the Alex Stern Family Foundation, and by a generous donation from Joe and Muriel Richardson.

The full-fenced off-leash dog park is located south of the lake and features two sections (for smaller/shy and larger dogs). Visiting any Minneapolis dog park requires a permit, but visitors can get a daily permit for just $5.

Lake of the Isles is an engineered lake—in the early 20th century, the Park Board dredged a shallow lake and marshland to create the current lake’s shoreline. While the lake once contained four titular islands, two islands near the south shore were converted to land when the lake was developed into its modern shape. Stroll the 2.63-mile walking path around the lake as you read the tumultuous history of the lake’s development.

If you’re looking for a sweet treat during your visit to Lake of the Isles, check out Food Network-featured Isles Bun & Coffee. This famous bakery is known for its freshly-baked cinnamon buns, cookies, pastries, and puppy dog tails (twisted cinnamon rolls named by the preschoolers next door). Grab a bun and a coffee and stroll around the lake for a quintessential relaxing Minneapolis morning.
