IT ALL STARTED WITH A TILEFISH…In 1981 a banker became a fishmonger. After ten years in banking, Suzanne Weinstein briefly worked in the seafood business with a local company and decided to strike out on her own. With a small loan, a used van, a beautiful shipment of some incredible tilefish from a family fishery in Barnegat Light, New Jersey and a generous offer to store the product at a small grocery store in Minneapolis, she founded a wholesale fish business. Four years later, a retail store opened in the Seward neighborhood, then another in St. Paul in 1992.

Flying in fish and seafood 6 days a week enables Coastal to always have an amazing variety of over 50 kinds of the freshest fish imaginable.
