When fall rolls around and our minds start turning toward school, sweaters, and maybe even the coming holidays, many folks start thinking about doing all they can to enjoy the fall shoulder season. Fall foliage drives, visits to apple orchards and corn mazes, and autumn road trips to state parks may all find their ways into our plans. But for many of us – particularly those with a love for jack-o-lanterns and other gourd-oriented decor and, of course, kids – fall doesn’t really start until we’ve visited one of the many fantastic pumpkin patches in Minnesota. And I figure, if you’re going to go, go big and visit Barten Pumpkins. It’s not an agritainment amusement park, but there’s plenty to see and do, and it’s one of the largest pumpkin patches in the Land of 10,000 Lakes – so if you don’t find your pumpkin here, you may not find it anywhere!

While you’re in the area be sure to do yourself a favor and explore the charming town of New Prague. With a rich Czech heritage, it’s one of the most “European” feeling communities in the State.
