The Cannon Valley Trail is a 20-mile trail in southern Minnesota. It stretches from Cannon Falls to Red Wing, following a Chicago Great Western Railroad route that has been converted for recreational use.
For many Minnesotans, northern Minnesota is the go-to place for nature exploration. After all, the North Shore alone is home to more than half a dozen state parks that feature rushing rivers, roaring waterfalls, thick forests, and magnificent lakes. But there is more to Minnesota than up north. Today, we want to introduce a way to see a beautiful part of southern Minnesota. The Cannon Valley Trail is a 20-mile path from Cannon Falls to Red Wing.
