Dante Germain’s new work in our gallery includes these beautiful long-necked bottles from his River Rock Series!

Lake Superior Glass Art Gallery, located at 357 Canal Park Drive, is a complete glassblowing studio and gallery.  We have knowledgeable staff that are well-trained in everything from the artists featured in the gallery to teaching in the glass studio.  Whether you’re a first-time glass enthusiast or an expert, we have just what you need.
The gallery at Lake Superior Art Glass features glass artwork of all types made by over 60 artists from the Midwest and beyond. This includes stained, fused, torch-worked, furnace worked and more! Lake Superior Art Glass is also your go-to gallery and studio for custom and commission glass pieces. Between us and our artists, we can make most anything  you come up with. In our studio, students can take beginning, intermediate and advanced classes, as well as rent studio time to practice what they’ve learned.  We also sell torch-work supplies and tools.
Lake Superior Art Glass also has the unique ability to make glass art right before your eyes. Our specialized workstation in the front window allows you to watch our live demonstrations from the sidewalk, or better yet, come inside and get up close and personal while the artist works.

Owner Dan Neff, pictured here, working on his torch in the front window, has been blowing glass since 2003 and instantly knew this was an art that he wanted to master.  Since then, Dan has shown his work around the country and has worked with and learned from world-renowned glass artists.  Dan loves to share his passion for glass with others.

Don’t just take our word for it though. Check out our testimonials page!

How Lake Superior Glass Art Got Its Start

As part of Go Downtown Grow Downtown, the Great Space Giveaway in 2012, three lucky winners would be working with property owners to secure free space in the Downtown. The contest drew in 56 concept papers and was narrowed down to 15 finalists. Due to the quality of the candidates, the selection committee opted to provide three grand prizes rather than the original two that were offered.

Finalists went through the process of creating business plans with the help of the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund and received an incentive package that included free rent for one year (of a three-year lease), free advertising package with the Duluth News Tribune, free marketing services from Out There Advertising, free retail mentoring services from Maurices, free membership with the Greater Downtown Council and startup loan assistance from the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund.

Dan was previously working from a home-based studio when he decided to expand and create Lake Superior Glass Art Gallery and Studio. It includes a storefront glass blowing demonstration, glass gallery, classes, supplies, and studio rental.

Stop in and introduce yourself to the world of glass art!
