Walk through the ice sculpture-filled winter wonderland!
The Minneapolis Institute of Art is introducing the Minneapolis Institute of Ice this February, an outdoor exhibit that embraces the winter weather with a display of art-inspired ice sculptures.
The ice sculpture collection sculpted by artists at Minnesota Ice will resemble favorites such as Raffaelo Monti’s “Veiled Lady” and “Your Dog” by Yoshitomo Nara. Pieces from Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys, an upcoming special exhibition debuting in March, will also be previewed in icy display. Head inside after to warm up and see the pieces that inspired the icy artwork.
The Institute of Ice with opened on February 6th as part of the first event of the Meet at Mia series, a collection of free Thursday evening events featuring art making, special programming, and free food and drink, where visitors can also participate in a winter lantern-making workshop hosted by local artist Amy Mester. While admiring the ice sculptures, enjoy a live DJ set and sip on free mulled cider, hot chocolate, or stop by the ice bar for cocktails and mocktails.
