Pathways: Collaboration, Community, Clay
…
On view this fall, in the main gallery at
Northern Clay Center, is an internally-curated exhibition in partnership with community organizations, NCC’s Artist Advisory Committee—Pathways: Collaboration, Community, Clay.
…
Pathways: Collaboration, Community, Clay will bring together artists, community programs, and outreach organizations that have embarked on and demonstrated alternative pathways to establishing, pursuing, and supporting sustainable creative experiences and careers in the ceramic field; pathways that dispel the notion that the most valid path is to solely engage and operate within the academy, revealing opportunities beyond the accepted value of academic degrees with accessible and meaningful creative experiences with clay. Participants in this exhibition have activated and continue to create viable pathways parallel to the traditional and, more often than not, expensive and increasingly inaccessible route of academia. This invitational exhibition aims to provide a platform for artists, community programs, and outreach organizations who, with intent, walk and contribute to establishing and validating pathways and inroads to clay outside the support system of academia.

10th Annual Lantern Lighting Celebration at Lakewood Cemetery
…
Lanterns Decorated to Remember Loved Ones Create a Breathtaking Moment of Serenity, Commemoration and Connection!
…
Lakewood Cemetery invites the public to its 10th Annual Lantern Lighting Celebration. Th3 weekend event offers an opportunity for people to remember loved ones and celebrate their lives by decorating then releasing floating, candlelit lanterns onto Lakewood’s Jo Pond.
At the event, people can decorate a paper lantern sleeve with favorite pictures, messages and personal sayings, poems and other symbols of remembrance. At dusk, in a beautiful ceremony, attendees gather to release their lanterns onto Lakewood’s ten-acre lake, as the names of loved ones are read aloud accompanied by the stirring sound of bagpipes. The effect of the candlelit lanterns floating on the lake is breathtaking and magical, connecting people to their loved ones and to others who are remembering and grieving.
Throughout the event, guests can enjoy live music, food and refreshments from local food trucks, and the beauty of Lakewood’s scenic grounds. Self-guided tour brochures of the cemetery will also be available.

The event was a can’t-miss experience for car enthusiasts of all ages.
The event’s festive atmosphere will feature live music, delicious foods, wines and whiskey from around the world, a gathering of local artists, merchandise vendors, a children’s play area, pony rides and much more.
