It’s a day when thousands of spring visitors to the State Capitol are told to look up and take in the beauty of the State Capitol chandelier, which is traditionally lighted only a few times a year: Statehood Day May 11, governor’s inaugurations, when a government official’s body lies in state in the rotunda. Happy 159th birthday, Minnesota, which became the 32nd state in the union on May 11, 1858!
