St. Paul Booya Schedule: It’s booya time! – St. Paul, MN

Booya is a hearty stew cooked up in large cauldrons for fundraisers

The air is getting crisp, leaves are starting to turn, and that can only mean one thing: It’s booya time!

After the MN State Fair ends two seasons start, “Back to School,” and Booya.  The latter started the weekend after Labor Day and usually runs to just before the General Election in November.

Booya might mean something to another part of the country but in the Upper Midwest it means a thick stew that is mixed and cooked up in a giant vat, or 55 gallon drum and served at non-profits and churches by the bowl until it’s gone.
