Art in the Garden is a unique showcase of art and nature, featuring more than 70 local vendors, from culinary to crafts to fine arts.

Arboretum guests of all ages can meet the artist, mingle, stroll, eat and shop. Enjoy live music from Nick Jordan and Mary DuShane on Friday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Duos Amigos from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Alrio Trio + from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Every week we will feature other nighttime creatures that can also be spotted (or heard) during our Firefly Viewing Nights! You’ll be able to pick from a few options for firefly-viewing hikes throughout the Arboretum grounds. We’ll note which route offers the best viewing each night.

Adam Turman Exhibit: Experience the bold, bright and colorful works of famed Minnesota artist, muralist, printmaker Adam Turman as he explores the wonders of nature — and how we perceive them — at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Made using acrylic and spray paints on large cradled panels repurposed from the theater industry, Turman’s exhibition might catch you off guard with playful-yet-subtle references to iconic Minnesota motifs, local folklore and even your own childhood nostalgia. Look closely: Did you see that?

Did you know the Arboretum taps more than 350 trees every winter? Learn more about our trees and the maple tapping process at several interpretive stops at Frog Hollow Workshop and the Maple Sugar House including sugar maple tree tapping demos and tree identification. Visitors will watch Arboretum staff cook down the sap to make pure maple syrup. Afterward, warm up in the Eatery (open from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.), offering a variety of maple-themed items for purchase.

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers multiple opportunities to see the full moon throughout the year! Visit the grounds on the following dates to marvel at the moon and learn more from experts in the field.

February Full Snow Moon: Marvel at the beauty of the full moon during this after-hours snowshoe hike! February’s full moon is known as the Snow Moon due to the heavy snowfall that typically occurs in this season. Before embarking on your moonlit trek, swing by the MacMillan Auditorium for a presentation by Dr. Brian Smoliak with Weathervane Labs on snowfall in Minnesota. Afterward, warm up and roast a marshmallow over the fire with friends.

March Full Worm Moon: In late spring as weather conditions slowly warm, earthworms begin to appear at the soil surface, lending this month’s full moon its evocative name. March weather can still be chilly, so warm up around a bonfire after your hike.
